We’ve launched the Stocktwits Sentiment Index — a new signal built from what retail traders are actually feeling across the market.
Unlike the $VIX, which tracks expected volatility, the Stocktwits Sentiment Index tracks retail sentiment. It’s updated daily and gives you a clearer view of market emotion.
What is the Stocktwits Sentiment Index?
It tracks what retail traders are feeling — whether they see risk or opportunity — and turns that into a daily sentiment signal.
How to Read It:
Spikes above 1 = Retail sees risk/is fearful
Drops below 1 = Retail sees opportunity/is greedy
What to Watch For:
Spikes = Fear rising
Drops = Greed growing
Divergences = Potential turning points
Extremes = Possible reversals
The Takeaway:
Retail sentiment isn’t noise — it’s signal. Track it daily to enhance your market radar. Available now only on Desktop, on the Stocktwits homepage.
