Self-Promotion Guidelines on Stocktwits

How much promotion is allowed on Stocktwits, the limits for new accounts, and how to share your work without being flagged as spam.

Updated 1 min read

Creators, analysts, and businesses are welcome on Stocktwits — as long as they add value to the conversation. These guidelines explain how to share your work without crossing into spam.

The 10% rule

Promotional content — posts about your own products, services, newsletters, or paid offerings — should make up no more than 10% of your posts. The other 90% should be genuine contributions: ideas, analysis, questions, and conversation.

New accounts

New users face additional restrictions on promotional ticker tagging during their first 50 posts. Build a track record in the community first.

Not allowed

  • Repetitive or identical promotional messages

  • Tagging tickers that aren't related to your promotion

  • Using likes, follows, or replies primarily to promote yourself

  • Gated links that require a sign-up, login, or payment to view

  • Recruiting to Discord, WhatsApp, Telegram, or other private groups

Doing it right

  • Share free, publicly accessible insights that stand on their own.

  • Be transparent about your affiliation when you mention your own product or service.

  • Engage with replies — two-way conversation builds trust faster than links.

Want to reach more people? For paid promotion, Stocktwits offers official advertising options. Select Advertise in the top navigation bar on stocktwits.com to learn more.

Accounts that break these rules may have content removed or be suspended. See the House Rules.
