Message Volume measures the total amount of chatter on a ticker's stream over the last 24 hours. It tells you how loudly the crowd is talking about a stock or coin right now.
Reading the score
Message Volume is shown on a 0–100 scale, relative to that ticker's typical activity:
Extremely Low / Low — quieter than usual
Normal — about typical for that ticker
High / Extremely High — far more conversation than usual, often around news, earnings, or big price moves
Where to find it
Open any ticker page.
Select the Sentiment tab to see the current Message Volume score alongside Sentiment and Participation Ratio.
Compare the Last score with 1 day ago to see whether chatter is building or fading.
Edge members can compare Message Volume over 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year, and add it as an overlay on the price chart. See Historical Sentiment & Chart Overlays.
How traders use it
Spot tickers that are suddenly getting attention before they hit the Trending list.
Pair it with Sentiment — high volume with a sharp sentiment shift can signal a change in the crowd's view.
Check Participation Ratio to see whether the chatter is coming from many people or just a few accounts.
Message Volume reflects community activity only and isn't investment advice.
